Right after Thanksgiving the American Family Association called for a two month boycott of Gap, Old Navy and Banana Republic for refusing to use the word “Christmas” in any of their online, TV or newspaper advertising.

Many people signed an online petition sponsored by the AFA. It didn’t do any good. They’re still on AFA’s “Naughty or Nice List.” L.L. Bean and Sam’s Club were also originally on that list but they made amends and got into the holiday spirit.
Black Friday is the first day of the year when retail businesses typically are in the black for a year (making a profit). Apparently Gap, Old Navy and Banana Republic think we’re all shopping for the “holidays”‘ or for “Kwanzaa” or “Hanukkah” or merely the sales prices. Humbug!
All three stores are based in San Francisco. Hint? Gays have always been outspoken in how much they despise Christians and Christianity and the Bible.
“Jesus was gay,” Sir Elton John said famously at Christmastime a few years ago. “Religion promotes hatred and spite against gays.” Gays hate religion!
It’s time for folks to vote their disapproval with their checkbooks and credit cards. Boycott these three stores; boycott them forever!
They want to destroy our Christmas spirit and forever. They don’t deserve our business. It doesn’t matter if people aren’t uber religious. Christmas is Santa Claus, gifts, family togetherness, and hope.
Gap, Old Navy and Banana Republic went over the line. Sure, they’re only doing what everybody else does – commercializing a sacred holiday – but they don’t have to be crass about it.
What if they are successful? What if Christmas becomes just another has been holiday? Where will all the shoppers be to break those stores from a sea of red into black profits?
Those stores need Christmas just to break even each year. The least they could do is get into the spirit. Otherwise they don’t deserve to be in business at all.
