House Minority Leader Pelosi told CBS News “Face the Nation” on Sunday that she wants additional revenue from higher taxes. Her goal is an annual increase of $160 billion, only $60 billion of which was raised by the recent fiscal cliff legislation.

“Vote-for-the-law-if-you-want-to-see-what’s-in-it” Pelosi isn’t the least bit cowed by Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell’s assertion that the tax debate is done, over, fin, the end.
Pelosi wants to raise more revenue by another wave of tax cuts on top wage earners and corporations. She also wants to limit deductions and close loopholes for the wealthy and for special interest groups like oil companies.
I find the idea of raising more taxes repulsive. Pelosi is a monster.
Why?
How can Democrats say all this with a straight face? Congress gave Obama a $900 billion stimulus plan his first year in office. The national budget was supposed to return to normal after that. Bush’s budget was about $150 billion in the red.
But, NOOoo. Obama kept spending that extra $900 billion three years in a row. The Congressional Budget Office estimates $1 trillion deficits for the next ten years – $10 trillion more in debt.
Bush ran up that surplus while fighting two major, I mean MAJOR, wars. Iraq and Afghanistan are over now. We should be running $1 trillion SURPLUSES right now.
The only revenue the Democrats gave up in the fiscal cliff bill was $1.5 billion a year for a long-term health care plan for the elderly that wasn’t even set up yet much less funded. (The bill wasn’t even signed before Obama issued an Executive Order granting a pay raise to all federal employees valued at $1.5 billion.)
This is a bit like Orthodox Jews tucking a tiny paper IOU into the Temple Wall in Jerusalem. That is the scale of the proposed cuts by the Democrats versus the humongous magnitude of the debt problem.
It’s a damn pity Jesus isn’t around to crash the moneylender’s party and get some perspective in DC.
