Prisoners were made to run around a deep waterhole at Dachau until they became dizzy, fell in, and drowned.

Washington does this to the public all the time. They conjure up major issues – sequestration, extending the debt ceiling, expiration of the Bush-era tax cuts, an extension of jobless benefits, even the gruesome specter of a full government shutdown – always compromising at the last second, and always perpetrating the $1 trillion annual deficits that have now become the status quo.

Any honest citizen who follows the news, always hoping that Congress will get a handle on our out-of-control spending, always grossly disappointed in the end – anyone who bothers to get emotionally involved inevitably ends up swearing off politics forever.

The only people who can stomach the grind – the media and the politicians actually chasing the tail of the debt monster – survive only because they know all along that it’s all just for show, and only to fool the “unwashed masses.”

It just goes to show you how very few people actually follow the news. The average voter spends less than 30 minutes researching the candidates on election eve. The vast majority don’t even do that much – but just vote along racial or party lines (for Democrats it’s the same difference).

We’ve all become nauseated by the endless run-arounds, and just plain given up – fallen into the abyss and drowned.

That’s exactly how the politicians want us.
