Our brand new Secretary of State John Kerry was giving a speech to German students in Berlin. He was talking about freedom of religion, freedom of speech and all the other hallowed rights guaranteed to U.S. citizens.
In a Joe Biden-esque hedging, he added, “if you want to be.”
Then he dug himself in even deeper, adding, “You have a right to be disconnected from everybody else if you want to be… And we tolerate it.”
Naturally, this faux pas got zero coverage in the mainstream media. They’re disconnected, and they like it that way.
John Kerry knows all about being disconnected. His wife is heir to the Heinz ketchup fortune. Heinz was just sold for $23 billion to Warren Buffett’s Berkshare Hathaway. Warren Buffett is one of the richest billionaires in the world. Now longtime billionaire John Kerry is right up there in the same stratospheric league.
The hyper rich have always been aloof and remote. Nowadays they’re totally and utterly isolated. They travel around in private leer jets, live on exclusive islands on multi-million-dollar estates, party with the other hyper wealthies, and generally have zero connections to the world the other 99.95% of us live in.
We tolerate that.
What we don’t tolerate are hyper-wealthy politicians like Kerry who buy their way into public office and proceed to lobby for stupidity, poverty and abject ignorance. We don’t tolerate stupidity, and we don’t tolerate anybody who says we do.
No American has the right to be stupid. We all have a righteous obligation to be all we can be. America is a nation where education has always been prized above all else. It’s our key to prosperity, upward mobility, and happiness.
Anyone who claims to the contrary is just plain stupid.
