Obama’s Gun Control Measures Ignore Violence in the Media

I realize Hollywood, in the words of Jamie Foxx at the Soul Train Awards, considers Obama to be their  “Lord and Savior.”

Nevertheless, I’m obliged to inform you that all the money Hollywood contributed to Obama’s election campaigns has been paid back in spades.  (pun intended)

Dancing with the stars.
Dancing with the stars.

There’s nothing in Obama’s 23 Executive Orders that even recommends or suggests or hints that experts look into a possible link between video game violence, violence in Hollywood films and the massacres we’ve seen lately.

They wouldn’t even suggest that people’s widespread ownership of assault weapons could be linked to violence in our virtual lives.  I want one of those.  I’ve GOT to have one of those.  Oh – a box of that ammo with the orange tracer trail at nigh.  COOL!

The average American kid personally kills 20,000 people in video games and witnesses 200,000 acts of violence in the media by the time he’s 18 years old.

Sure, you do a search on “link between violence and video games,” and you get a million hits with a thousand graphs showing no correlation between childhood violence and video games.  Who says the link will show up when they’re still children?

What happens when kids are in their late teens or early twenties?  They have 200,000 videos in their brains showing people getting blown away – many of them by their own hand.

Oh, it’s only virtual reality.  It’s no big deal, dude.

Oh yeah?  What about in Japan, where the vast majority of young adults prefer their virtual friends to real people?  They aren’t interest in sex, don’t want to have sex, and have no interest in ever having sex.

Teenagers?  Young adults?  Zero hormones?

It’s so bad in Japan that experts project that the birth rate will drop so much that the Japanese race will be extinct in less than 300 years.   Clearly, electronic games have the ability to dampen the most basic of all instincts, the sex drive, the drive to procreate – pleasure!

All the ass wipes in DC are convinced electronic games can’t sublimate one basic drive and exacerbate another?  Who are they?  Psychologists?  Experts in behavioral dynamics?  GOD?

Japan is a whole nation to whom video reality is more real and more important than real reality.  How much of a stretch is it to pose that, to them, real reality is meaningless – that killing real people is of no consequence?

It’s the people in their virtual world that are important.

Just last week some Members of Congress wanted to pass a bill banning a video game that targets umpires.  Now they’re suddenly convinced video games don’t play any role whatsoever in violent acts by young adults?

What is it going take for them to tackle the real problem, a video game targeting Members of Congress?

Sure, it’s unimaginable to our generation, who grew up dazzled by pin ball games, the kind where you hit the flipper to bling the silver ball and tilt the table to its limits.  We can’t conceive in our wildest of dreams that a young man could blow away people with an assault weapon as if they meant nothing at all to him.  Well, they don’t.

Just ask the young adult population of Japan (and South Korea and Taiwan and Vietnam) – who’s more real, your virtual friends or the smelly, rude, fat ones at school?

Real people mean the same thing to them as virtual people mean to us.

Nothing.  Nada.  Zilch.

Game over.
