Nazi Germany had their “swing kids” just like America back in the day, kicking up their heels to jazz and big band music in crowded dance halls.
Young adults in Japan epitomize what is, and will be, the fate of modern-day swingjugend:
- Most young Japanese have never had sex and have no interest in having sex, ever
- They prefer virtual friends to real friends
- They have zero interest in the opposite sex, romance, marriage or anything related thereto
Experts say that the birthrate is so low among the Japanese that the race will be extinct in 250 years.
Japan and Korea are, of course, the most “plugged in” nations in the world versus the internet. So much so that South Korea has programs to get kids to horse farms to wean them off internet addiction.
Nobody worries about that in America. Quite the contrary. Washington is anxious to have broadband access in every schoolroom and every home. Obama has given away 20 million cell phones to food stamp recipients and people receiving jobless benefits.
- Businesses look at Facebook pages along with resumes of job applicants. They want to see lots of friends (or at least “likes”) on your Facebook page
- Once you start work, they expect you to use your Facebook contacts to promote their business – on your own time, of course
- Ditto for many other institutions – college applications, promotion boards, etc.
Kids in school spend so much time networking they don’t go out and play after school. They never learn the rough-and-tumble negotiation skills of the schoolyard. Increasingly, they turn to teachers or parents to solve conflicts that once were resolved amongst themselves, amicably.
80% of human communication is by way of body language. What happens when kids (adults, too) do all their socializing electronically? We become just like Japan – personal interaction doesn’t matter anymore. We literally become incapable of it, especially the complex of skills needed to manage a relationship and, more so, a marriage and family.
What happens when your only contacts with the real world are via texting, email, Facebook postings and the like? You lose 80% of what you otherwise would say with body language.
You lose 80% of what it means to be human. You have no real relationships:
- You idolize virtual heroes – celebrities, athletes
- Real people are irrelevant – parents, teachers, siblings, friends
- You live literally “in the cloud”
- Real life responsibilities like work, raising a family, friends, siblings, parents, neighbors – forgedaboutit
- You’re psychotic, by definition
The Facebook Generation
Every day, in every way, we become more like the Matrix movie. Real life is dirty, smelly, crowded, rude – virtual life is magical, unique, narcissistic, thrilling, beautiful.
All things considered, living in North Korea is probably a lot healthier for you than living in South Korea.
All because business is forcing young, savvy adults to devote all their leisure time to promoting their ugly, lazy, ruthless employer’s crummy, worthless, shoddy products. No wonder kids don’t have friends – who wants friends who “like” you just so they can further their own sorry ass careers?
Living in Nazi Germany would have been a whole lot healthier for kids than living in modern day Germany.
