President Barack Hussein Obama had a press conference yesterday at the White House with Afghanistan President Hamid Karzai. There were no military personnel present, just the fawning press.
Obama was anxious to announce our drawdown of troops to 10,000 this year, maybe down to zero next year. Hamid Karzai is anxious for American troops to be gone, “so the tourists can return.” LOL.
The Administration and Karzai had been negotiating the terms of our withdrawal for months. Just as with Iraq, the sticking point was whether or not our troops would be subject to Afghan laws. Karzai insisted, Obama refused; and so now we are leaving Afghanistan.
The sticking point was the right of our homosexual troops to serve openly. Homosexuality and even cross dressing are serious crimes in Afghanistan, especially in rural areas. Penalties start at jail time and can include the death penalty.
The same situation happened when Obama negotiated our withdrawal from Iraq. They wanted our troops to obey their own laws. Obama didn’t. So we pulled out, everything. Now Iraq is a close ally of Iran in supporting the Syrian government, the new Axis of Evil in the region. The nascent beginning of a new Muslim Caliphate.
Obama pulled of Iraq just to please 0.25% of the U.S. population (that’s one quarter of one percent) who are homosexual. Now he has done the same thing in Afghanistan. Whatever bad happens in Iraq and Afghanistan from now on is on the conscience of the gay community.
Ironically, according to Wikipedia, there is a thriving trade of young boys who are kidnapped to service members of the Afghan militia. This part Obama approved of, no doubt. This is just the kind of foothold the liberal culture warriors look for in their efforts to obliterate other cultures.
Be that as it may, the war in Afghanistan has cost $1.2 trillion. Over 2000 soldiers and 13,000 civilians have been killed and almost 18,000 soldiers wounded. The healthcare and benefits for the soldiers who fought in Iraq and Afghanistan will cost another $1 trillion over the next 40 years.
The Afghanis have barely one brigade out of 15 that is in decent shape. 600 American soldiers have been killed in Afghanistan since Osama bin Laden was killed in May of 2011. Most of them have been at the hands of the Afghan troops we trained. Obama still thinks terrorism has been defeated.
“We achieved our central goal, which is – or have come very close to achieving our central goal – which is to incapacitate al-Qaida, to dismantle them, to make sure that they cannot attack us again,” said Obama.
Close only counts in horseshoes and hand grenades, Mr. President. Didn’t your people tell you about the dozen al-Qaida training camps in Benghazi last September? About al-Qaida’s involvement in the Syrian insurrection? They are far, far stronger and more diverse than ever before.
Then there’s the Taliban.
Before we invaded 12 years ago the Taliban had eradicated the opium crop. Today Afghan supplies 98% of the opium in the free world. The Taliban are no longer strict Muslims (who despise drugs and don’t even use alcohol) but drug lords. Hamid Karzai’s brother is one of the most powerful drug lords.
Obama admits in his autobiographies that he used cocaine as a boy. It was experimental, a learning experience. He no doubt wants all Afghanis and Europeans (most of the Afghan opium goes to Europe) to have that precious opportunity. Drugs are the one common belief he shares with Karzai.
It was bad enough when we pulled out of Vietnam and left that country to the communist Chinese. Then we pulled out of Iraq, leaving them to the Russians and their BFFs Iraq and Syria. Now we leave Afghanistan to the drug lords.
Afghanistan is very much like Mexico. Drug lords control the government from top to bottom and field armies with more soldiers who are better armed and more loyal than the government’s (homosexual) militia.
Of course, Obama loves Mexico. He wants universal amnesty for all illegals. He turns a blind eye to the 250 sanctuary cities in America that form the hub of the Mexican drug cartels.
Adios, Afghanistan.
