In the nineteenth century, the Germans had a political goal of a colonial empire on par with other nations – England, France, Spain, Japan, China, and Russia all had considerable empires. The United States did, too, in their expansion westward.
Nazi ideology sought parity with the colonial powers of the day by; well, by colonizing. Eastern Europe was the logical choice. It was relatively “uncivilized,” and many areas already had considerable numbers of Germans living there.
None of the bloody conflicts that England, France, China, Japan or Russia engaged in to secure their vast empires (especially England’s) got much attention. Indeed, they were hardly considered wars at the time (or even now).
England, in particular, was a superior nation. It was her destiny to subjugate and colonize and civilize – ditto for Spain and Japan, especially. It was all the fad back then. Even modest Italy had colonies in Africa.
Colonialism 101
The Germans were simply following the standard protocols for colonization. You declare yourself a superior race, one among many, and proceed to establish that you have inadequate land within your borders for self-sufficiency.
That done, you voice your intention to expand to the east where you can civilize those barbarian feudal states with your nationalistic expertise (a mere century ago German was a hopeless hodge-podge of city-states and fiefdoms), high moral standards (all the great philosophers and thinkers of the day were German), and largesse.
The Jews were a de facto colonial empire back then, too; with designs as grand and far-reaching as any other colonial power. The Jews were not a nation-state but, much like modern multinational corporations, they controlled vast regions and economic spheres and extracted the local wealth to enrich themselves.
Alas, but other colonial empires had first dibs on all available land not yet colonized. Several powers had already set their sights on eastern Europe – Russia, France, Britain – the Jews (who had a large presence, especially in Poland).
World War II was as much a war on colonialism as anything. The world is indebted to the Nazis, in fact, for release from the colonial shackles.
It’s entirely possible that the colonial empires of the Jews, England, France, Japan, China, Russia, and Spain would never have collapsed were it not for the Nazis. Arguably, getting rid of all of them at once was a stroke of genius; sparing hundreds of millions of deaths and infinitely more economic chaos. People can be so bloody ungrateful.
