The Germans’ awesome “lightning war,” made advances with stunning speed, using tanks and airplanes to support ground troops. Many analogies since then use blitzkrieg to imply a sudden, violent assault on the unsuspecting by a formidable force using new and frightening weapons or methods.
21st Activism in the 1970s
As accustomed as America was in the 1960s to race riots and peace protests, one series of events stands out in stark contrast as a true blitzkrieg on the unsuspecting and unprepared/undeserving. (After all, the military brought peace protests on themselves, and the race riots went kit and kindle with the Civil Rights movement.)
This true blitzkrieg of the 60s was a series of violent, coordinated assaults on the annual meeting of the American Psychological Association. Meek, bespeckled doctors and academics were confronted by angry mobs threatening violence and retaliation, year after year.
The mobs were gay activists. Their angst was that psychiatry still classified homosexuality as a mental illness.
The Gay Manifesto
The psychiatric community knew very well what gays were all about, from many exhaustive statistical studies:
- 40% of gays had had sex with more than 1000 different people in the last few years since “gay liberation.”
- 70% of gays had had sex with more than 500 different partners in the last few years since “gay liberation.”
- The average lifetime number of sexual partners for heterosexuals is 5-7
The APA caved and voted homosexuality out of the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual, the bible for psychiatric diagnosis.
The latest edition of the DSM, version 5, contrasts with their evaluation of gay sexuality (which is returning to those earlier levels of promiscuity with the advent of efficacious treatment options for HIV-positive individuals). Many new mental illnesses are identified in DSM—5:
- Showing excessive grief after the death of a loved one
- Children talking back to their parents too much
- Consumption of pornography on the internet in excess
Yet, homosexuality and group sex at ten times the norm for heterosexuals is quite okay.
Such is the power of violent protests and wall-to-wall media coverage in America.
The Microeconomic Version Thereof
The blitzkrieg of gay activism (gays always embrace the latest technology and media tools with exquisite finesse – and typically spectacular results) back in the day was a violent attack on an undefended group. No contest.
The Obama administration has mastered a new version of blitzkrieg – focusing the entire might of the liberal media upon one individual. Several recent examples got extensive media coverage:
- Two key senators voting on Obamacare
- One swing vote in the Supreme Court on the legitimacy of Obamacare
- The Speaker in the House during the fiscal cliff negotiations
The general idea is to put an entire decision upon one person and to excoriate that individual publicly “for denying health care to 30 million infants, mothers, elderly, veterans, disabled, and people with pre-existing conditions.” The whole weight of the suffering and agony of millions of people is put on one or two people’s shoulders; the media hounds them constantly, relentlessly, night and day, 24/7 in the cable TV universe.
Nazi Tactics
The general premise is not hard to set up. The nation is evenly divided between Democrat and Republican, so every decision is balanced by the votes of a few traditional fence-sitters.
The fulcrum must be purposefully created, however. The President must establish a “gang of 4” commission (or 8 or 12) – or the President must single out one individual by:
- Publicly calling him out
- Legally challenging him
- Inviting them to dinner/beers/golf
Anything to focus the media bloodhounds on the poor innocent victim(s). This unleashes the dogs of war – the media lunatic fringe of activists, pundits, extremists, hacks, haters, political opponents for their job/Senate seat/House seat – even billionaire political action committees.
Nobody can withstand that kind of withering criticism. The President wins.
