Auto manufacturers are able to sell SUV’s because they are classified as trucks. Congress should revoke this classification and live by the rules, or implement the ultra high efficiency technology developed by the Clinton Administration (recently discontinued by the Bush Administration). People wouldn’t love their trucks so much if they knew the auto corporations make a minimum of $10,000 clear profit on every truck they sell. (It goes up to $20,000 for the super luxury $35,000 SUV’s) You can see why they spend so much money on advertising. I’d feel pretty foolish if I were driving one of those vehicles right now, so pleased to have gotten a $2,000 discount off the sticker price.
