The House of Representatives will soon be voting on a bill to increase the number of H-1B (permanent visas) given to foreign engineers and computer techs from 65,000 to 300,000 per year. That’s almost 30,000 good jobs a month they want to give away to foreigners.
The political widgets in DC dress this legislation in any number of disguises. A wolf is a wolf by any other name.
The Republicans pose it as a clover leaf to Hispanics. The Democrats say we need all those skilled workers to create more jobs in America. They’re all oh, so wrong.
Back in the day, big companies used to sponsor science fairs in high school; they had scholarships and outreach programs to get school age kids interested in science and math. Not any more.
It’s much easier to ignore the demise of American science and math (we’re not even in the top 20 world wide any more, and our rankings are dropping like a lead balloon) and just hire the skills we need from other countries.
Naturally, those poor countries need their engineers and computer experts to build industries and create good jobs right there at home. Even more naturally, those techies would much rather go to America than bring prosperity and economic growth to their own people.
Thus, all the Fortune 500 companies coerce Congress into bringing all the world’s brains to America. Our own home grown engineers can’t compete. There are no incentives for American kids to hunker down in school and study their science and math.
Ditto for all the decent technically-inclined people in every other nation on earth. The only students who excel are those with dreams of easy money, McDonald’s, and silicon-enhanced virgins. What kind of engineers does that kind of crude ambition create?
Exactly the kind of engineers the Fortune 500 companies want. Engineers who don’t mind destroying the natural resources of every country on earth (even their own native lands) for rank profit. Engineers without a conscience or ethics or morals or dignity or decency.
Exactly like the Fortune 500 companies who breed them like rats in a cesspool.
I think Congress ought to ban all high tech visas until the science and math scores of American school kids are the best in the world. Obama often says he wants to improve American education. Here’s his chance to walk the talk.
You know where I’m putting my money.
And it ain’t on Obama.
