All the political parties but the Nazis agreed to a “public peace” in 1923, a moratorium on all political activity, on account of the French invasion and horrific inflation.
There has been a cessation of all meaningful political activity in American since Obama was elected president. Congress approved a $1 trillion stimulus plan early in 2009, and “continuing resolutions” have been passed every year since then, extending this $1 trillion stimulus to become a regular part of the budget.
The original $1 trillion stimulus package has morphed into a $5 trillion stimulus package, with no end in sight; at least not as long as Obama is president.
The Tea Party alone opposed this offensive spending spree, until 2011 and a knock-down, drag-out debate over extending the debt ceiling, at which time both the Democrat and Republican parties fought to obliterate the Tea Party.
The dramatic Christmas/New Year’s budget battle of 2013 saw a brief resurgence of the Tea Party, but Republican leadership has since removed all Tea Party members from influential committee leadership positions in Congress.
The only drama over budget issues since then has involved $20 billion issues (which are always watered down in the end, and typically moot because in the midst of the whole big long debate, Congress passes a few bills that have already used up the $20 billion in savings, by a factor of 3 or more).
Not one member of either the House or Senate has voted in favor of any Obama budget, yet they collectively continue to approve continuing resolutions that encompass all that Obama’s official budgets call for. This gives them plausible deniability with their voters come election time.
The entirety of the media and the whole of the political spectrum from far-left to far-right inclusive have been complicit in this absolute ban on meaningful political activity.
