This was the deportation of Jews from the Warsaw Ghetto to Treblinka in January of 1943. It was called off after four days due to armed resistance by the deportees.
This is the only reference on record of Jews taking up arms to avoid deportation to a work camp. Clearly, the Germans did not have the resources to overcome the slightest resistance – the camps were successful only because the whole process was done at maximum efficiency, with the full and complete cooperation (willing assistance!) of the inmates.
Even if the Jews didn’t realize they were being taken to concentration camps (and this incident proves they knew damn well where they were going) they were being arrested illegally – they were being taken to forced labor camps (they knew that much) – yet, they offered no resistance at all to speak of.
Judging by the skill and aptitude of the Israeli military, Jews could have been a formidable military force in occupied countries.
