Both Obama and Romney spent well over $1 billion on their campaigns this year. That number probably doesn’t phase you.
Okay, try this one: 85% of all political contributions are spent on lavish fund raising events to solicit more funds from the wealthy.
Thus: Does it bother you that the U.S. has just spent $2 billion on lavish parties for the famous, the celebrities, the powerful and the super rich? That’s just for the top of the ticket contenders. Roll in all the other candidates and their races and you can double or triple that amount.
This should make all you nickle and dime contributors think twice before you donate $10 or $25 of your hard cash to one of the national candidates. All you’re buying is a shrimp coctail for some brainless celebrity at a gaudy dinner somewhere.
Or maybe a line of coke for one of the high rolling bundlers who collect the big dollars for the candidates. Whatever the final expenditure, your donation sure as hell isn’t going toward electing the person of your choice.
To add insult to injury, those filthy rich worms deduct their donations from their taxes. So the $2 billion party is all funded by the taxpayers. How much more insulting can you possibly get?
Be thankful for small favors, y’all. If 85% of donations weren’t spent on parties, it would be spent on more TV advertising – more muckraking, more hateful diatribes, more lame ads and more degererate name calling.
It’s not even entertaining any more!
Not when one in five Americans is un-, under, or marginally-employed.
