Major hearings on The Hill in Washington this week failed to say one word about General Petraeus, the head of the CIA at the time. What really happened over there?

Let’s regress a bit, to a day when events in DC were a little more transparent… Every day Al Queda gets stronger and stronger.
Rush Limbaugh said right after Sandy hit, sarcastically I might add, that all the photo ops of Obama posing in the White House Situation room with FEMA officials had no sound bites because they weren’t talking about the federal response to Sandy but about how to use Sandy to win the election.
Actually, no sound was needed because the liberal media were plotting all this for them, on the front page of the New York Times and every network news cast.
Rush was right. If anything he was too kind. We now know that the administration had known about Petraeus’s mistress for months, via an ongoing FBI investigation. The DOJ and Secretary Holder had the goods on Petraeus months ago. House Majority leader Eric Cantor got a tip from the FBI the weekend before the election – why didn’t he say anything?
Even with the tragic interruption of Sandy, the drumbeat on the Benghazi raid was increasing by the hour around election time. Every bit of news that leaked made the situation look worse and worse for the administration. Romney’s campaign had a nationwide 5% lead in the polls. Their lead was so comfortable Romney didn’t even need to dwell on Benghazi in the debates or in his stump speeches.
Team Obama was terrified the Petraeus scandal would leak. A week before the election, it would have negated the Hurricane Sandy PR boost that pushed Obama over the finish line with flying colors. It would have put Benghazi front and center in all the network newscasts that had worked so hard to keep it out of the news.
They break the Petraus scandal late Friday afternoon three days after the election. Friday afternoon is siesta time in the weekly news cycle. Clearly, they’re hiding something. In a city where publicity is money in the bank, nobody releases anything important late on a Friday afternoon unless they don’t want anybody to notice.
Nevertheless, like Benghazi, the scandal widened by the day. We learned the mistress divulged classified information at a speech a month ago. Then the sex scandal spread to another general in Afghanistan. We learned, from the mistress’s speech, that the CIA had terrorist detainees at the Benghazi annex and that the rebel assault was done to free them. Then the CIA denied they had any detainees anywhere on the African continent.
No wonder Petraeus resigned as director of the CIA. His face is muddy enough.
Clearly, Team Obama was pouring over all their options when Sandy hit. We need to keep this out of the news until after the election. Hey, we can break the story on the Friday before Veterans Day weekend.
Nobody will criticize a highly decorated general on Sunday, Veterans Day or on Monday when Veterans Day is observed. By the time everybody sobers up on Tuesday morning, the story will be history. Yes! Good plan. Let’s do it.
Now I know why all generals are approved by Congress for promotions. Congress has to be damn sure their generals’ priorities are with politics and not military readiness or honor or dignity.
Petraeus wins on all counts. Team Obama wins on all counts. The Benghazi investigation is dead in its tracks….
Fast forward to the formal Benghazi hearings on The Hill this week. EVERYTHING HAS CHANGED! There’s a deathly silence about Petraeus. The Democrats say the election gave them a mandate. A mandate to raise taxes on the rich, a mandate to spend as much money as they want.
A mandate to cover up what really happened at Benghazi.
You can’t but suspect that it’s a whole hell of a lot WORSE than anybody is saying.
